2017 Ferretti Group Asia Pacific Service University

The 2017 Ferretti Group Asia Pacific Service University took place in Hong Kong between June 12th and June 15th. To enhance the opportunity and time available to all course participants from the Regional Service Point teams the University was entirely held for the first time in the Ferretti Group Asia Pacific Service Centre, this allowing for the classroom to be setup right at the dock side and thus greatly enhancing valuable time on board.

The focus of the four days was to be on some of the newer yachts and their systems fitted the Group, this included the Riva Corsaro 100, Ferretti Yachts 850 and the Pershing 70. For the systems, the participants received both classroom and hands on training the following systems:

• Amare Gangways and Portholes
• Top System Surface Drives
• Master Volt Chargers and monitoring systems
• SIMRAD systems
• KVH Satellite systems
• Marine Fire Smoke Detection Systems
• Side Power Fin Stabilisers
• Shaft Line and Shaft Seals
• Condaria Air Conditioning Systems
• H&B Platform, Hatch and Lifts
• Technoinox Saloon Doors
• Naviop Control systems
• All yacht safety systems

All this was linked into specific on board knowledge and training of each yacht, plus their relevant safety systems. Also for the first time the university was simultaneously translated into Japanese for the whole four days, whilst for the entire first day there were simultaneous translations into Mandarin and Cantonese as well, like for the 2016 edition.

Although the University was hindered by a minor Typhoon that struck Hong Kong on the evening of the first day and stretched through for the entire second day, this did not stop the training or the events. All was packed up and moved to a nearby hotel and the full course ran without a hitch – much to the relief of those that had travelled the long distances to attend the course!

Throughout the four days all participants were engaged and with the on-board sessions able to put into practise all that was learnt and covered in the classroom sessions, solidifying all that had been covered, any questions were able to be answered either by the manufacturers that had travelled to support Ferretti Group or the Ferretti Group After Sales staff.

As usual the event was wrapped up with an evening dinner and gathering, bringing the entire Ferretti Group After Sales Service Point Network together, enhancing the growth and solidifying the togetherness that the Ferretti Group is renowned for. All course participants enjoyed the four days, expressing that the benefit of having not only the manufacture of the equipment but also being able to have hands on the yacht a major plus and greatly enhancing all that was learnt. Also, bring all together under one room, with the availability of the direct translation allowed for a sharing of knowledge of issues faced and how they were resolved locally. Emphasising another valuable point of the unique Ferretti Group Service Point system, we as a group grow together and understand that only with sharing our collective knowledge will we be able to offer our clients that which is truly a global support network, no matter where they may travel with their yacht. With the course closing with the usual gathering photo, all departed with a smile on their face and already putting their name down for the next course in 2018!
